Well, if you are actually reading this self-indulgent nonsense, you must be wondering as to who I am. Well, my actual name is Dan Black (yes that is my real name...I get a lot of flack for that one), not Rotwang, which I'm sure you've figured out. In case you were wondering, I got the name "Rotwang," from a 1926 silent film called "Metropolis." Rotwang was the mad scientist (complete with white frizzy hair and artificial hand; the stereotype started with him) who creates a machine to replace the need for humanity. As the technology around us grows at an ever faster and mind-boggling pace, this film and many of its ideals have special significance today. I guess this shows the fascination I have with the relationship of technology and humanity (both are mechanical, both are a part of nature). A related subject which I tend to think about on those long sleepless nights (which are quite often; I am a bit of an insomniac) is the ultimate limits of humanity, our knowledge, and our technology. Since thinking typically leads to productivity, I have a bit of a need to make art. I do mostly art of the visual type (although I am not nearly as productive as I would like to be), but I also get bored very quickly. I am into the whole multimedia thing; the combining of sound, pictures, and words is something my conscious mind constantly practices whether I want it or not (by the way, that is my conscious mind...my subconscious mind is even more difficult to control). This is why I tend to daydream. This does have a downside. That beautiful cloud formation or beautiful song are distractions which have almost caused car accidents too many times! But I haven't gotten in any yet, though. But I've come close.

Well, besides all that, I'm just a person living in San Francisco. I think I'm done now. You know enough about me for now. You probably think I am a fool. You don't know me, so you have a 50/50 chance of being right. Either I am a fool or not.
